Turkish Wedding Tradition

IMG_0224

The Event Artisans team absolutely loves weddings but also have a real passion for understanding wedding traditions from around the world.

Our international Dubai based clients Merve and Michael had their second wedding celebration high up in the mountains of Kitzbuhel in the beautiful Austrian Alps at the world famous Rosi’s.

The stunning bride was dressed in a beautiful Alice Temperley lace gown with a gorgeous on trend fresh flower crown of peonies adorning her hair. Merve is Turkish and wanted to incorporate traditions from her heritage into this celebration having had a classic wedding ceremony in London previously at the iconic Chelsea Town Hall.

It’s a Turkish (also Greek and American) wedding tradition when getting married for the bride to have all her single female friends and relatives names written on the sole of her shoe. After the wedding, if someone’s name has been rubbed off and cannot be read anymore it means this person is the next to marry!

A look at Merve’s blush Charlotte Olympia bridal shoe means the couple will be busy attending weddings for the next couple of years :)

Such a fun, tradition, a great before and after photo opportunity and a lovely way to celebrate your single female guests on your big day.
